This Saturday, I am partnering up with my good friend Lauren Young to raise funds for Marra Sucgang and her mother. Marra is undergoing radiation for Sarcoma, a type of cancer, and her mother also needs an operation because of a recent aneurysm. They are running very high medical bills and this fundraiser is a step to lessen their troubles.

I went to a Life of Pi premiere. I chose a seat with Jim on the side of the theater, where there is an aisle separating us from the middle section of the theater. We’ve found that the middle section usually contains the noisy people. Of course, as luck would have it, we seated behind and in front of us were children. Picture a serene moment in Life of Pi, there were many serene, beautiful moments. Then imagine a child behind you asking very loudly “NASAAN NA YUNG TIGER??” then halfway through the movie he goes, “MALAPIT NA BA MATAPOS TO?” The child in front of us was just trying to entertain himself because he didn’t care for this Indian boy floating adrift in the Pacific. I can’t recall the things he was saying but he was being very noisy and fussy. We had to shush him a couple of times especially because the mom and dad were not doing anything to shut him up. The mom goes, “KAYA NGA GP YUNG MOVIE EH” and I had to ask myself if I was wrong for wanting to enjoy a beautiful spiritual movie without noisy children. No, I wasn’t wrong. This wasn’t CARS part 3. I’m pretty sure General Patronage is not slang for “Have a child? Please enter! Make some noise!”

I watched a 9:30PM screening of Star Trek: Into The Darkness with Jim. Once again, we chose the non-center section (what the heck are those side seats called?!). Halfway through the movie until it ended, very far from us, I could see and hear a child banging two empty bottles of water together. Non. Fucking. Stop. Wala akong magawa dahil ang layo. I was so weirded out that no one else was shushing the boy!!! Spock and Kirk are having a frickin moment, LET THERE BE SILENCE FOR SPOCK’S TEAR’S SAKE.

I watched a 10:30PM screening of Fast & Furious 6. We bought our tickets pretty late so we got row A seats but still on the side so it was okay. Or so I thought. I’m not kidding, there was a 3 or 4 year old boy also on row A pero middle section and he was literally just walking along the front of the cinema while the bad guys were plotting against Vin Diesel. Yes, okay, Fast & Furious is no cinematic masterpiece but what if I was super into that stuff like the titas behind us who were guffawing (yes, guffawing) every minute kahit waley naman yung jokes ni Tyrese. I shushed the little boy and signaled for him to keep quiet by putting my finger against my lips Victoria Court-style. The dad and yayas looked at me in shock like OMG ARE YOU TELLING HIM TO BE QUIET?? IN A CINEMA?? WHY CAN’T YOU LET HIM RUN AROUND?! and I looked back in shock as well and said (telepathically, of course) ANG DAMI NIYO PALANG ADULTS DIYAN, WALANG NAGPAPATAHIMIK SA BATA?! AND ISN’T IT WAY PAST HIS BEDTIME? Once again, the caps lock is for hyperbolic purposes. I ain’t mad at cha<3

So here’s my very own experience as an adult with a child. I watched Ice Age 3 with my family. My ate Unna brought along her 2 young kids because it was appropriate to bring kids to an Ice Age movie even if it’s non-Disney. Zoie, then-turning-4, was sitting on my lap because she had never watched a movie in a cinema before and she found the dark room strange, I guess. A few minutes into the movie she was getting very fidgety and I asked her if she wanted to watch the movie or not. She did not want to watch it. Yes, it was money down the drain but HELLO I will not force a child to watch something she doesn’t want to watch. I didn’t even think twice, I left the movie house and spent the next hour at Starbucks drawing airplanes with my niece while waiting for my family to emerge from the theater.

So the next time you want to bring your child to the cinema, think about your child and the rest of the movie-goers. Don’t. There are alternatives: DVDs, Cartoon Network, a babysitter (if you really want to see the movie). Somebody told me that dogs are allowed in Eastwood Cinemas. I’m not sure if this is true but oh my gosh I will not subject Joey to that boredom. I’m not saying your child is like my dog. What I’m saying is that I can call Joey a bitch but I’m still a better parent than you.

So what I do during my free days is pretend that I have a 9-5 job as well! I have to be up and ready to work on my blog, FMCC website, run errands, etc. by 9AM because if I let myself just sleep in, I don’t get much done after lunch :( So I work from 9-5pm and then I go to his work place and ride with him going home! We call this moment “crush hour” because traffic is not so bad when you’re with the one you love! He’s so stressed with work, it’s the least I can do to be with him to lessen the stress from traffic! I know what you’re thinking and to answer your question: yes, I’m the best girlfriend ever.

Hahaha! Just sharing a small thing that makes my relationship work!:) Feel free to do crush hour with your boyfriend/girlfriend or share your own small sweet tip!

My favorite female character is Hazel Grace Lancaster of The Fault In Our Stars! A sixteen year-old girl who is diagnosed with Thyroid cancer, stage 4. I really admire her for being strong. I love how she live her life as if she has no cancer at all. Also, she always reminded me of my sister. My sister had lung cancer for 2 years, but she continued on living her life the way she wanted it to be.

I find it so crazy that he’s getting let go because of this! Here are the reasons why it’s stupid:

1. Pugad Baboy is not only a funny comic strip, it’s a social commentary on Filipinos! Maganda nga na nabubuksan ang mga mata ng mga kababayan natin at napapaisip kung tama o mali ang “nakasanayan na” nila.
2. I can’t find any lies here.
3. It’s not the first time this specific strip has come out (pun intended) on PDI.
4. Hardcore Christians say stuff about homosexuality being a lie from the devil and this comic strip gets people outraged?
5. Pag maraming pinapagbawal, mas nagiging rebelde ang bata. I speak from experience. Sa Assumption Antipolo, even a simple thing like the color of your ponytail holder kailangan blue, red, black or white ONLY. NAKAKALOKA. ANONG CONNECTION SA PAG AARAL?? Simplicity?! Eh paano kung gift sayo ay puro pink na pangtali at wala ka nang budget pangbili ng bago? I must say, marami talagang close-minded na exclusive schools. Ang daming bawal noon sa Assumption. Ang dami ring lesbian. Eh ano ngayon? Sorry. Ang haba nitong number 5. Personal experience lang. Pag may mga cha-cha dance chorva kami for a program edi pinapag-partner partner pa kami ng teachers so nag-iintrigahan ang students and nagkikiligan kasi may holding hands involved sa dancing. Napakawaley.
6. Sorry off topic pero may galit talaga ako sa Assumption dahil they asked my sister to transfer schools because of her Modess commercial. Hindi nga siya artista eh, commercial model lang siya nun. Ang sabi sa family ko okay lang na lumabas sa TV kung educational or something, basta wag bastos or mga beer commercial DUH. Kung may mga greetings for my dad sa Eat Bulaga baka pwedeng wag nalang daw. ANYAREH?! Hindi pwede mag happy birthday sa TV?! Kasalanan ang paglabas sa TV? Hindi educational ang napkin commercial? Hindi lahat ng babae nagkaka-period? SIMPLICITY?! NAG-ARAL BA KAMI PARA MAGING MADRE?! Chos. Di ako galit. Joke lang yung all-caps para mag-LOL kayo. But I’m sure yung mga Assumptionista umiiyak, “OWEMJEE, why is she so galit with our school?!” (Chos again, alam kong hindi ganun magsalita mga taga AA.) Cino-correct ko lang na hindi na-kick out si Maxx because pinanindigan namin na walang mali sa pagtulong sa finances ng pamilya by making a napkin commercial. Tinapos niya ang school year amidst bullying from high school girls na mga inggit at pangit. We transferred schools and sued AA for not undergoing due process. They called her to the principal’s office and made her cry instead of sending a letter to her parents. She was in 7th grade, I think. Very Jesus ang peg ng mga madre, noh? Not. Love you, Maxx. We won the trial, by the way.
7. Hindi ako galit sa mga madre at pari. Galit ako sa mga holier-than-thou na hypocrites.
8. Bakit nag-run yung strip kung sobrang offensive siya, di ba dapat chineck muna ng PDI?
9. Pol Medina Jr. has a “consPIGracy” theory that he has been fired over anti-Marcos strips that he has submitted recently. This lesbian strip was run again (after its first appearance in March) as an excuse to fire him.

Yun lang. I have read all your books, sir Pol Medina, jr. It’s PDI’s loss, not yours. Have a nice day.

Edit: Pol Medina, Jr. wrote on his Facebook page, “What? Wait… hindi pa pala ako fired. Suspended lang hanggang magkaroon ng consensus na sipain ako. Pero…doon din siguro ang punta no’n. Sigh.”

I wasn’t a fan of Emma Watson in Perks of Being a Wallflower and I’m so afraid she’s going to mess up this movie too. I love her, okay? I just think she has a hard time portraying a bad girl plus she has to fake an American accent. Please don’t say I’m no better than her as an actress. Duh, I’m not in Hollywood. Haha! Anyway, I said I would stop censoring myself. So, yes, I hope she proves me wrong and does a great job in this movie!

Now I’m not so sure if I love her or Hermione. Either way, love her face! Soundtrack seems bangin’ too!
