Apparently, it’s Doppelgänger week on Facebook. I’m not quite sure when it started and when it’s ending but people on my feed have been changing their profile pictures – making it seem like I’m friends with so many celebrities.
A doppelgänger, originally from folklore, is a “paranormal double of a living person” but the way we use it today is when we talk about somebody looking so much like another person. A non-biological twin of sorts.
Doppelgänger week on Facebook:
It’s Doppelgänger week on Facebook; change your profile picture to someone famous (actor, musician, athlete, etc.), you have been told you look like. After you update your profile with your twin or switched-at-birth photo, then cut/paste this to your status.
It made me think of all the celebrities I’ve been told I look like (not including Maxx, Elmo or my dad) or, the way I like to hear it, how they look like me. Kindly let me indulge in my narcissism for a few minutes.
Bjork
When we were a lot younger, my uncles would say that my sister Maxene looked like Bjork. Now that we’re all grown up – I’m the one who gets it a lot. Not everybody my age knows who Bjork is though, so it’s mostly musicians who tell me this. Back in high school, I wrote Jason Mraz’s percussionist Toca Rivera a fan letter through his website and left a link to my then-blog. He wrote back and, among other things, he said I look a lot like Bjork. Wala lang, gusto ko lang i-namedrop si Toca Rivera. Haha!
Remember Bjork’s major fashion faux pas? She did the crazy lady thing first, Lady Gaga! If you remember this like I do – I’ve got bad news for you. It happened over a decade ago. We’re old.
I think Bjork is very cute and I take this as a compliment. I think what we have in common is the nose.
Ellen Page
I loved Ellen Page in Hard Candy but I never thought we looked alike. I remember thinking she’s cool for being a bad ass though! Then Juno came out and everybody in my life let me know how much I look like her. The funniest thing was when I heard that somebody was calling me “Ellen Page ng Pinas” HAHAHAHA. I think we do have similarities. Maybe my friends think I look like her because I was a lot like her character in Juno back in school minus the getting pregnant part. Or her get up was my porma back in school. Oh wait, what? Nobody cares? K.

Rachel McAdams
Now this is the strangest comparison I’ve gotten but I’ve heard it from a lot of different people, including my boyfriend. Up to now, I really don’t see it! Don’t get me wrong, I love Regina George and I agree, I think she’s really pretty (hehe) but I don’t think I look anything like her. I say this and make this face quite a lot in my life though:
But doesn’t everyone? Anyway I found an old photo of her and she kind of looks like Ellen Page so I guess that makes sense!! Maybe it’s the smile.
Those are my top 3 Hollywood doppelgängers. I’ve been told I look like a few models but I don’t remember their names at the moment. Ang masasabi ko lang: ang ganda ganda ko naman. Thank you! Hahahaha!!

When I was in High School, some people said that I looked like your sister, Maxene(who looked a lot like you =D),then in college, some of my friends told me that I looked like Yoon Eun-Hye(princess hours), and just last week, a friend (who saw me w/ my hair up) told me that I kinda looked like Alice Dixon…hahaha..weird comparison but I loved it (coz all of them are beautiful) =D

In highschool some of my classmates say I look like Jen Aniston because of her signature hairstyle and the eyes. Joyce Jimenez, also because of the eyes. Then on college naging Yeng Constantino! I don’t know about their comparisons. I don’t see it until now.

Eversince the movie PROM, my friends won’t stop telling me how I look like Yin Chang. She’s also the geeky girl from Gossip Girl. And then recently in a birthday party, the uncle of my husband’s boss told us to search for a photo of Apolo Ohno and sobrang nagulat kami. Everyone in the table just started laughing kasi he totally looked like my husband.
