Tech Saaby

I woke up yesterday morning to an iPhone 4S on recovery mode. It didn’t want to turn on and when I plugged it in, it would get that charging sign and then the apple logo would come on then it would die again. This was on a never ending loop so I plugged it in my MacBook Air, held the power button and menu button simultaneously until my iTunes recognized it.

iTunes said my iPhone was on recovery mode and it had to be restored and updated. So I said OKAY. It started downloading the software needed for the update — I’m assuming it’s the dreaded iOS6 that nobody seems to like. It took 5 hours to download and when I finally clicked on restore, it gave me an error prompt. I researched and the first step to fixing it meant having to update my iTunes which I’d been putting off for so long. Anyway, so I updated it and it took about 20 mins. Not bad. When I tried restoring my phone again, it was deja vu. It started downloading the software again. CRAZY!!! So I did. At first it said 11 hours remaining but thankfully after about half an hour it went down to 3 hours remaining. Kalurkey.

I tried updating my phone again once the software finished downloading and then a different error prompt appeared. I researched it and this time it said it might be a hardware problem na. Thanks for wasting my day, Apple. Sarado na yung Greenhills.

So I went to my gadget suki in Greenhills today after attending a children’s party (which involved inappropriate games for adults — but that’s another story). Turns out my iPhone’s battery became bloated because of overcharging. My suki said if you’re going to charge your iPhone overnight, it should be turned off. Oh well. Instead of buying a new battery, I decided to trade it in for a Samsung Galaxy SIII because I can’t take Apple’s bullshit anymore! And it’s in my favorite color!:)

Thank you to my suki Janet of GCD TECH for helping me out! It’s in Theatre Mall Greenhills, just ask around! Here’s her number (0917) 806 8988 ;)

I’ve never changed phones as much as I did this year. From an iPhone to a Blackberry to an iPhone 4S and now to a Samsung Galaxy SIII. The Blackberry I will always love for BBM but I couldn’t get over the hassle of mobile browsing on a Blackberry and I’ve come to terms with letting BBM go. I’m settling for Whatsapp Messenger which lets you chat with people regardless of their gadget.

I hope my switch to Android goes smoothly! Wish me luck and if you have any tips and tricks or any apps to recommend, I will be very thankful! Also, thanks to Maxx for coming up with the term TECH SAABY earlier today <3

Tech Saaby sounds kick-ass! Haha. Download Go Launcher and Go Locker. They’re cute. Oh! And GO SMS as well if you like iPhone style messaging but you cam use different themes. Good luck! :)

  2. Jemm says:

Congrats on the new phone. I’m absolutely jealous because I’ve been eyeing that since it came out. Red is also my favorite color. XD

  3. Maxx is a really great copy writer I always say! <3

I was a Blackberry user myself and was supposed to switch to an Iphone since I’m a Mac user. After much research on the specs, I opted to go Android with the Samsung Note. It’s been a week and so far, it’s been awesome. :)

  5. borgy says:

congrats on making the switch! i would say watch out for battery life because android phones can be power-hungry especially when wi-fi is turned on the whole day. the app Juice Defender can help with that :)

  6. Kamille Moraleja says:

  7. Alexandra Fernando says:

I find Samsung phones cool. I hope you do, too (after a few days or so with your S III). ;) The battery life’s not that great, though. But it’s still awesome, nonetheless.

Di ka na lang nag iPhone 5. Sobrang satisfied ako sa battery niya. Tumatagal, no joke. Text, 3G Internet, at Games ang ginagawa ko buong araw. Pero tumatagal siya talaga. Pero okay din naman s3. <3

guuurl! love love love s3!!! ganda ng red mo, marz! bagay peenk casing!

  10. Hi, Saab! First off, I’m so happy you decided to get the Samsung SIII. It’s one of the best, IMO.

If you want to customize your phone’s theme and make it cute or whatever floats your boat, download GoLauncher EX, GoKeyboard to change the look of your keyboard, and GoSMS for your inbox theme. They’re for FREE. And a lot of their themes won’t cost you a cent.

I hope you’ll enjoy your new phone as much as I did with mine.

Paano yung mga laman nung iphone mo? like those apps. etc agad-agad ka nag palit, o naka-back up sa macbook mo? or you just trade it instantly? sayang yun kundi man.

  13. Congrats on your first Android phone! :) S3 is also my 1st Droid phone. It was a bit confusing at first but once you get to know it more, you will love every bits of it!

Try to download “Standard Quadrant” app. You can check which quadrant your phone is (against other android phones) – it was super cool! :D

Goodluck! Make sure to update it to Jellybean as well! Wohoo!
