Punching Calories

I’m so happy to have finally found an exercise regimen that I actually look forward to!! I’ve tried boxing before but somehow I’ve only appreciated it now. Labo diba but I guess there’s just a time and place for everything. Ang drama?!? Haha!

I started Monday last week with Maxx and Renz. Here’s a photo I grabbed from Elorde Ortigas’ Facebook page from my first day.

Today’s session was my 5th day of boxing! Yay! But let me start my story from yesterday’s boxing session!

I recently convinced my friend Candy to be my boxing buddy because Maxx is so unreliable (hahaha partial chos) and if I have two buddies I’ll have no excuse to skip it. Yes, I’m aware of the fact that I can box alone but it’s just so much more fun with a friend. Anyhoo, last night Candy and I went boxing. It was a good session because there’s barely anyone else in the gym on Sunday nights pala.

Fairly fresh before starting. Sinabi ko kay ate-behind-the-counter na mag-take ng pictures para ma-post ko but no, pag-check ko ng camera after, walang laman. Oh well, maybe she got confused. Here’s an after picture. Check out my sweaty tummy!

After boxing we decided to reward ourselves. We ate at our favorite kebab place, Uncle Moe’s, just a short walk away from Elorde. Minutes later, I was filled with regret :( Buttered rice, why you gotta be so good but so bad??? Nagtira ako para “hindi masyadong tumaba” but I know I’m not fooling anyone.

Candy tried to tone down the oiliness of her keema by draining it on a piece of tissue before eating it.

Sorry, Candy, you’re not fooling anyone either. After our dinner Jim texted a little too late asking why we’re eating at Uncle Moe’s and not at Yellow Halo, Maxx and Elmo’s new healthy restaurant (blogged about it here). Kalurkey. Moe’s is very yummy, yes, but it is so far from guilt-free.

This morning, Candy and I promised to eat at Yellow Halo for lunch.

It was our first time there and I must say, it’s so cute!!

We had a meeting at 2:30PM right across the street from Strata 100 in Ortigas where Yellow Halo is located so it was perfect.

We shared a tomato basil cottage cheese sandwich. Oh God. It’s so good, I will try to recreate it at home!! It’s 260 calories and just 90pesos.

Candy had the grilled tuna (350 calories, 230pesos)

I know it’s supposed to be a calorie-conscious place but we just couldn’t resist ordering several plates. Had to get the seafood lasagna (220 calories, 180pesos) I’d been dreaming of since Maxx posted a photo on Instagram. It’s really so delicious I’m getting hungry just writing about it. Mmmm…

I ordered their best seller, the mongolian beef plate (450 calories, 230pesos) and if you decide to visit the restaurant, PLEASE order this. Promise, you’ll love it.

All healthy plates are served with vegetables, fruits and sugar-free iced tea. You can opt to use Splenda on it if you want.

The bill arrived and it was just 700+ for four super delicious dishes. Crazy.

Candy said the seafood lasagna didn’t look very appealing when it first arrived but here she is eating her words (pun intended).

Okra is something we both don’t eat. Wala lang.

After our meeting, we went boxing as planned. More people at around 6pm on a weekday as expected.

We were hungry for dinner and then it was decided: YELLOW HALO AGAIN! I know, right. I wish this was a sponsored post but Maxx and Elmo haven’t even given me gift certificates *ahem* haha! I was all yellow with my ombre iPhone case from XtremeMac - it looks like candy corn, perfect for Halloween!

We tried the margherita whole wheat pasta (250 calories, 140pesos). They should really warn you that it’s spicy. It’s very yummy no doubt about it but it’s also quite spicy!

I can’t believe we had another tomato basil cottage cheese sandwich between us.

We also tried another best seller – meatloaf with spanish coleslaw (440 calories, 230pesos). Super recommend this!! It’s so tender.

They also have smoothies on the menu and I ordered the watermelon basil one. Grabe to. I will also try to recreate at home!

If you’re coming straight from exercise (since it’s on the same floor as YogaPlus, poledancing, Fitness360, etc.) bring a jacket as it can get really cold!

I’m going to bug Maxx and Elmo to give me free meals because of this blog post. Haha! Looks like I’ll be eating here after boxing everyday. Yay! If you want to know more, click the names of the places mentioned in this post :)
