Feeling Foodie: Basil Valdez

It’s been a long time since my last Feeling Foodie post, I’m so happy I decided to try and recreate our favorite Yellow Halo items which both coincidentally have basil as its main ingredient!

Jim was gonna come over after work so I wanted to make him a couple of yummy sandwiches for dinner!

This is called a tomato basil cottage cheese sandwich. K, let’s just call it ToBaCo. Hehe.

Slice the tomato

Love my Albert Hammond, Jr. shirt from The Dahlin!

Chop up some basil leaves

Toast some wheat bread

Lay on some cottage cheese goodness!!!

I swear it’s so yummy!!! You can choose to put walnuts in it, too, which is what we did for the other sandwiches!

Next, I made watermelon basil smoothies!

All you need is ice, water, watermelon, basil, honey/maple syrup

One tablespoon of honey/maple syrup is usually enough. I used this organic one I got from Healthy Options

Use a basil leaf as garnish para mukhang pro :)

Happy boyfriend!<3

Yahoo!:) Do you have any more healthy sandwich ideas I can try? Share them with me please!

This isn’t a sandwich recipe but if you like omelets or scrambled eggs, you can try…

2 eggs (remove the yolk so that it’s healthier!)
1 tsp cream cheese or cottage cheese
Turkey bacon (you can find this in S&R, it’s only 30 cal per slice!)
    Salt and pepper
    Paprika

Fry turkey bacon in olive oil (just half a teaspoon – you need this because the bacon doesn’t have any fat) until crisp. Drain extra oil. Add eggs, cream cheese. Whisk until fluffy or make it into an omelet. Add salt, pepper and paprika. :)

Serve on whole wheat toast. Yummy and filling. :)

I didn’t know that basil and watermelon can go together. Was it good? I think it is. I shall try! Thanks Saab! Cheers to healthy eating! :)

Saaaaab! Your fingers!!!! Please please please bend them a little more when you slice… you might cut them huhuhu. Concerned lang ako hehe (feeling close)

  9. Hello Ate Saab! :-) Maybe you can try this sweet sandwich recipe for breakfast or before engaging in an intense workout. It’s nothing new, really, but really healthy. All you need is whole wheat bread, peanut butter, honey, banana (half will do), and cinnamon (or nutmeg if you want extra flavor). Toast the bread slices. Spread peanut butter on the bread. Pour honey onto the bread, about a teaspoon or two (not too much because the flavor of the honey can be overpowering). Arrange your thin banana slices on the bread. Finish your awesome sandwich with a dash of cinnamon (and nutmeg). Hope you like it! :)
